Final games of the season

L4s v Crewe Vagrants men (2s, 3s, 4s) – 10-0

L4s took on Crewe Men which included 2s, 3s, 4s & Juniors in an in-house friendly. Despite the 10-0 result indicating otherwise, the ladies had good possession with a few corners and shots at goal. The defence and midfield worked tirelessly throughout with some great saves from Captain Adele White. Special mention to 12 year old Esther Paterson who was amazing in defence and midfield with some speedy runs up the right wing! A good end to the season which demonstrated the determination and team spirit of the L4s.

L3s v Macclesfield 3s – 3-0 LOSS

The score line does not reflect the game overall. Crewe held the score at 0-0 for three quarters of the game. Solid defensive work, creative movement from mid field and forward line put the opposition under pressure. “That was a hard-fought win, not easy” comment from the Macclesfield players. The work effort and perseverance from all players demonstrates how the team has developed over the season, working for each other, and not letting our heads go down. All players were POM – well done – look what we could achieve next season.

M2s v Alderley Edge 4s – 6-3 WIN

Champions elect Crewe Vagrants Mens 2s had a little trip out to Alderley edge to play their 4th team. After a very quick start and going 3 nil down within 20 minutes Crewe found themselves on the back foot very quickly. Crewe’s first short corner of the game quickly got upgraded to a penalty flick where Nathan Watson put it away superbly allowing Crewe a brief team talk. From that point on Crewe changed their game and went in to half time only trailing 3-2 thanks to a second goal from Andrew Ashworth. The second half saw a different Crewe team turn out, switched on from the start, this was followed by Bruce scoring a further 2 goals, Stanton a single goal and Nathan another goal! Bringing the score line to a deserved 6-3 win. 100% effort put in by everyone. A brilliant game to finish the season on.

M1s v Urmston 1s – 12-0 WIN

Crewe hosted a depleted Urmston on the final game of the 2022/23 season.
Crewe ran riot winning 12-0 with hat tricks from Jack Townsend and Chris Regan with goals also from Freddie Nixon, Graeme Wolfenden, James Holt, Jake Holland and Tom Davies.

L2s v Lymm 4s 3-1 WIN

After a short lived initial break from Lymm, Crewe quickly picked up the ball and remained in Lymm’s half for a long spell, eventually ending up with goal from Leanne Read following a cross into the D. Lymm bounced back shortly after, making a break where we failed to get back in time, levelling the score.
A team discussion at half-time led to better play in the second half, resulting in a further two goals from Crewe. The first came from a short corner, where Louisa Naylor picked up a rebound from a left slip, calmly passing it past some defenders’ sticks and the goal keeper, into the goal. The second goal followed a brilliant pass back from Mel Brooks to Katie Gibbs-Blythe who then passed the ball on to an an unmarked Maddie Lycett in the D, where she moved the keeper and scored. Also with the second half come some good one-twos up the wings and more movement of the ball in the midfield. Solid defensive work allowed some runs from the half-way line into the opposition’s D, unfortunately not ending with goals. A good end to a great season left us in high spirits.

L1s v Liverpool Sefton 3s 5-0 WIN

The ladies 1s were unsure what to expect from Sefton as they had been given a walkover in the last game due to differing opinions on travel! But after being reminded by Rachel Miller that we were a great team with a lot of funny moments from the season we were determined to finish on a high.
Sefton came out hard from the start but Crewe kept their heads and stuck to their principles of play. We worked together from start to finish, with the defensive line up outletting round the back and into the pocket, Sefton just couldn’t keep up with our ball pace and running speed. Three goals came for this seasons players player Ola Jama and two for captains player Claire Terry. Leaving the final score as 5-0. This was a game that the ladies 1s will take forward to next season.
