On Saturday the U14’s travelled over to Northwich for some pre season friendly games. The hosts, Winnington brought 2 teams and we were also joined by Lymm hockey club.
Crewe played Lymm in their 1st game. The Vagrants boys got into position and settled straight away. With some fantastic communication and passing the boys went on to win 2-1.
Crewe faced Winnington A for their second game. With a quick team talk and a switch around of players Crewe headed out. The boys came out strong and quickly took a 1-0 lead. With more great passing and teamwork Crewe went on to score 2 more goals leaving the score 3-0 at half time. In the second half Winnington came out strong putting the Crewe boys under pressure. Winnington managing to make a break and score quickly. Winnington then scored again in quick succession. The Vagrants boys fought back having some great shots at goal but narrowly missing. Winnington went on to score again to equalise 3-3.
For the last game Crewe faced Winnington B team. By this point the boys were tiring. It was a close game but communication was lacking. Winnington scored early on but Crewe were quick to equalise. They all fought to the end but Winnington went on the score again to win 2-1.
It was a great day for the U14’s. They have certainly taken on board what they have learned at training and playing the men’s 3s. There was a great improvement, the best I have seen them play. Well done boys.
